The advent of cell phones and
PDAs with operating systems and Internet access allowed
eProcessingNetwork, the first mainstream payment gateway to
offer mobile wireless transaction processing at swiped rates, to
introduce ePNMobile back in the Fall of 2000 with a clip-on
MagStripe Reader for the Palm® Pilot VIIx. ePNMobile
has since evolved to support more cell phones, more PDAs, more
carriers and more MagStripe Reader/Printer hardware than all our
competitors combined.
Today, eProcessingNetwork offers two different types of
Mobile Processing Solutions, and as with all services
available through eProcessingNetwork, merchants can
mix-and-match any combination of solutions through a single merchant
account.
Mobile Processing Solutions available through
eProcessingNetwork can generally be classified as one of the
following types:
- Dedicated Wireless
Terminals - devices manufactured specifically to allow merchants the freedom to “cut the wires” and process transactions freely. These devices are committed to a specific network and carrier (CDMA, GPRS, etc.) and offer good coverage. They differ in size and functionality, but all offer the ability to accept swiped transactions with a magstripe reader and to print a receipt. Any of these devices can be added to an eProcessingNetwork account which provides full reporting on all activity.
- Merchant-Owned Cell
Phones/PDAs - Merchants that own Java® ME (J2ME)
compatible cell phones and/or PDAs with Web-capability can install
ePNMobile to their device from within the
eProcessingNetwork Merchant Support Center. This
solution requires a minimum of technical-savvy, but has
proven to be the ultimate solution not only for merchants
who do not want to carry multiple devices, but also for
fleets who need centralized control and reporting of the processing through their
devices.

| Java™ Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME) is referred to as "the most ubiquitous application platform for mobile devices across the globe", and is available on hundreds of cell phones, PDAs and other mobile devices.
eProcessingNetwork's ePNMobile Transaction Processing
Software, a Java ME software application, enables merchants utilizing compatible devices to securely process credit card transactions anywhere they use their Java ME-compatible device.
eProcessingNetwork offers a complete range of
Java ME-enabled Wireless solutions,
from manually-entered solutions for the most budget-minded of
merchants, through and including swiped solutions utilizing the most leading-edge
technology available today. |

| System
requirements for ePNMobile include Java ME, MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.0 or 1.1 and Web-browsing capability. It is not possible
for eProcessingNetwork to test all devices claiming to be Java ME-compatible. If
you are not sure whether your device supports these
requirements, please contact your devices' manufacturer or
wireless carrier. You are also welcome to contact
eProcessingNetwork Technical Support for access to a
demo account for you to test installation of ePNMobile
to your device. |

ePNMobile has many
configurable options that include Invoice/Order Number
entry, Tip entry and more, as well as the ability to
control/disable these functions by device from one centralized location. The
eProcessingNetwork gateway fully tracks all data, Invoice/Order Number, Sales, and Tips and even which device processed each transaction.
Installing ePNMobile software is done
Over-The-Air directly to any compatible phone (Java ME, MIDP 2.0, CLDC 1.0 or 1.1 and Web-browsing capability, Bluetooth capability required for Bluetooth hardware, please check with your carrier to confirm your phones compatibility).
Using Bluetooth MagStripe Reader / Printer hardware switch
between compatible phones by simply pairing the hardware to the new phone,
which means that a merchants investment in this solution
will not be lost if a merchant changes phones or
carriers. When you upgrade your phone – you take the software and the device with you to the new phone on the same or a new carrier! |
While it is not possible for eProcessingNetwork to test all devices claiming to be Java ME-compatible, eProcessingNetwork does maintain a list of known-compatible devices (shown to the right) based on feedback from merchants utilizing ePNMobile.
eProcessingNetwork is certainly grateful to our merchants for their feedback, while not actually requiring our merchants to provide feedback. With that in mind, the list shown to the right might not necessarily reflect the latest devices available that are compatible with ePNMobile. If you would like to test a device not listed to the right, you are welcome to contact eProcessingNetwork Technical Support for access to a
demo account for you to test installation of ePNMobile to your device.
Conversely, once a device has been confirmed to be compatible and has been added to this list, we tend to leave that device on the list, even if the device manufacturer or carrier no longer offers the device. We have found that many merchants maintain hardware for extended periods of time, and devices are often available on popular auction sites long after manufacturers and carriers have stopped offering them.
Please send the Manufacturer, Model and Carrier names of any devices you have confirmed to be compatible with ePNMobile that is not already on this list to us at Support@eProcessingNetwork.Com.
